Waayy off topic here guys, but kinda Dunedin related, so anyway.

I was driving along the motorway heading to town this morning, passed the Green Island rugby club, and suddenly my windscreen froze, as in, any water that was on it, froze into ice instantly.

Any ideas as to what would cause that? wind chill?

Way i see it there are only two reasons why that occured.

1. You were going so slow that the water on the window froze due to two bad Winter seasons and were still defrosting (but it'll have to move at an unnoticeably slow pace to go through two seasons).

or

2. You were going so fast that the water got way past boiling point and even way past evaporation point and beyond that high temperature the water starts the process over, so freezes (keep going faster and it'll warm up again).

So quite simple really. :)

But seriously, that is weird. :?

Roadworks all along that dam highway. Going to be fun in a couple of hours with 2 lanes closed off.

Man, i went for a job interview at those tannery's last year i think and i was only there for about five minutes but felt sick for half an hour afterwards just because of the smell.

I got offered the job in the end (i've never 'failed' a job interview) but turned it down. Rightly so i believe.

Yeah, sealing Saddle Hill motorway from the Mositron on ramp to the Fairfeild off ramp and doing Lookout Point too. Lucky they aren't going to close Three Mile Hill now (going to happen after Winter as none of the contractors put up a good enough offer).

Back on topic.

I had a similar thing happen to me when I was young going across the bridge to Tiwai aluminium smelter.

I pulled out and started to pass a bus at the start of the bridge and as soon as I went onto the bridge the windscreen instantly fogged up completely.
I was doing about 100.4 (wink wink hello officer) kmph and couldn't see a thing and was passing a bus across a bridge. I had to drive by looking out the side window and keep the proper distance off the barrier until I got past the bus. and then adjust the heater controls to get some visibility back.

I got to work and proptly changed my undies after that one 8O

So I figure it could just be an isothermal layer
