drunk drivers suck!!! dion wells i went to skool with got killed by a drink driver in wanaka on new years eve 7 years ago walking along the main road out to albert town ( bottom of andersons road in wanaka ) . Police stuffed up the process / prodecdure of the testing for blood / breath alchol . Lady walked free ( guitly as sin ) even tho it is common knowledge she was smashed on wines. Great time going snowboarding when you have to drive past a white remberence cross of a good dude who had the world infront of him and it was taken away in a moment.

dunedin is that fricking small not like taxis cost a arm and a leg. better to loose a car , than a mate or pedestrain for the drivers sake. Pretty massive damage incurred for in a 50km zone 8O

if a drunk driver kills themselves nz is a better place for it... when they start causing loss of life and damage to others then that is where karma or the big dude in jail you dont want to cell with hopefully kicks in , what goes around comes around, be an arse, an arse you will be....

only get one chance at life I rather be here for a long time than a short time

I thought that airbags don't deploy unless you're doing over 50km/h?

So if your doing 48k and the driver coming towards you is doing 140....your air bag doesn't go off?

Dunno... just what I heard.

your example suggests it would be kinda stupid to be that way, so maybe it's done on x number of G forces.

I've certainly had crashes in cars with airbags at or around 50km/h and they didn't go off. two of them head on ish(where they turned in front of our car going straight through intersection), we would have been doing 50 ish, and they were moving towards us, not stationary.

It is G-force based. Couple of sensors in the car and they have to go off in the right order to determine the crash is serious enough to need the airbags. And the angle of the crash plays a big part too

12kmh to a dead stop, (i.e. brick wall) will set them off.
