Anyone know what happened to the APET Skyline?

Postby rolla_fxgt » Mon Feb 01, 2010 7:04 pm

I was driving down north road yesterday, when a 4wd towing a trailer with a badly damaged (looked like roll over), white APET Skyline on it. Just wondered if anyone knew what the story was with that?

That was a Southern Skylines members R33 GT-R. :( He was very likely going to win the Bethunes Gully hillclimb too (his first run ended up being fifth quickest overall...) but ended up doing a big powerslide then catching a wheel on the edge of the road which sent him into the bank and then rolled the car. :(

He's come along to a lot of SSE meets in the past and we've all been watching the build process on the car. Such a shame really, but he only came out with a damaged pride.

Luckily i got a ride in it and also got to drive it before this happened. About 450hp at all four wheels, 600 at the flywheel? Needless to say he took me for a fast ride out on the Taieri Plains - 20km/h short of 300 km/h (closed road of course ;)). 8O Was bloody easy to pass cars i found, and by far the quickest car i've ever driven (engine was RIPS tuned/built?). :D

For pics of how it used to look, find any meet topic in the forum below.

I watched the race, First run was quick, but his tyres were squealing around every corner, it was bound to happen, glad hes ok tho.

2nd run heard more squealing then heard the crash and saw some smoke coming out of the clearing.
