*Custom Valved* Fortune Auto USA Coilovers

Postby Bazda » Fri Aug 26, 2011 11:20 am

Hi Guys,

We have started working on custom valved Fortune Auto 500 series coilovers for AE82/92/101/111 Macpherson strut & Superstrut.
We have had good response and quite a few people put down deposits already!

Manufacturing time is 5 weeks so if you want to grab a set of these before the summer of racing events pm me!
Deposit amounts are $400 so you will have plenty of time to save up the rest of your cash!
Pricing starts from $1670 incl.

The long lead times come from Fortune Auto having to test and trial specific valving on their shock dyno to get our desired settings!
Each set is valved to suit the springs rates chosen.
So your guaranteed to get the best ride quality possible!

These custom sets will have the following features:
- Custom bump and rebound settings to suit the weight distribution of the AE series chassis
- Custom set knee point from low speed to high speed bump transition (Digressive 50mm shock piston)
- Custom droop and stroke
- Shock Dyno graphs provided to show how they have been valved
- Optional swift spring upgrade (Swift springs made in Japan, lighter weight, less coils and more linear than your normal springs out there)

Some Info on Digressive Shock Pistons Vs Linear

Linear - means the shock rate gets harder and harder as the speed of the shaft increases. So the rate changes a lot. So if you hit a bump in the road it will feel very harsh compared to a digressive piston shock.

Digressive - This technology allows for stiff, progressive (linear) damping at low stroke speeds. This helps to control vehicle body motion like roll, dive and squat. However at fast stroke speeds (i.e. high speed bumps) the suspension is kept supple in response to bumps and irregularities in the road as the shock rate does not increase, it is valved to taper off flat.

All Fortune Auto Shocks use 50mm Digressive pistons. Larger shock pistons mean better control of the valving, due to more area. Also more fluid inside the shock will handle more exposure to heat generated by the suspension and brakes. All the other coilovers on the market use Linear 44-46mm pistons as its easier to valve and manufacture. But you will not get the ride quality as you do with a Digressive piston and this is why companies like Bilstein use Digressive pistons technology.
