Postby MrOizo » Wed Apr 07, 2004 2:44 pm

if it comes down to no one in NZ having one then i will go there for it ;)

Why waste you time when you could scource something just a good from a local company? Give AUOTCLUTCH a ring they're in Kingsland, Auckland.
I deal with them thru work and they made my mate a wicked clutch for his mazda GTX rally car for around $750

Yeah & I've dealt with Autoclutch as well for years but I've had plenty of hassles & a lot of the time they don't do as they are asked, they do what they want which we've proven time & time again doesn't work. Advantage of buying from the States is that generally they only sell proven products that fit. Autoclutch make one up & there are no guarantees it will work/fit first time. Up to the purchaser what they want to spend their money on. Could always adapt a twin/triple plate Tilton etc clutch to it but it'd be a similar cost.

Seems to me you've been searching for answers when the obvious is staring you in the face.
There's no better clutch for your car than a TRD clutch. There's no better TRD agent than NZ's own TRD agent based in Wgtn.
There's a saying we, who've been involved in motorsport for many years, use. "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten".

atmosports: exactly, The forums users on www.supraforums.com have said nothing bad about these and fully reccomend them.

I tried contacting places around auckland and they only really want to rebuild.

SPEC is a BRAND new kitt where as most other places will only rebuild your existing kit and cost 1.5 times more than one from over seas

Yeah but isnt half the TRD products manufactured at the same place as most other high-ish performance parts?

All youre really paying that little bit extra for is the maybe different coloured pressure plate that only looks good when in the box and the TRD name?

No that's nonsense. Yes TRD farm some of the manufacturing processes out to other companies who are involved in specialised industries.
But that's quite different from their products being the same.
A TRD clutch is not a Ferodo clutch or an Exedy clutch or a Daikin clutch.
It is a clutch designed by TRD using the skills of their engineers and manufactured elsewhere to their exacting specifications and quality control. Nobody else has access to these design specifications.

Dont know how true this is but...
'Went back to a RPS Turbo CLutch (the one TRD-USA rebadge as the TRD Single-Plate clutch).

From a JZA80 owner on a mkiv yahoo group...

But anyways, i think if i was to go TRD, i might source from the US as there relatively cheaper specially if i was to go through people through the supra forums in the US rather than sourcing through Sollit. (Thats accounting for shipping also)

This thread wasnt about TRD, but rather SPEC....

Anyone in NZ re-sell them?

That's the bit.
I'd be very surprised if you can bring it in from USA cheaper than we can offer it to you. If you can I'd like to hear about it. Often the best deal is just a matter of making contact & negotiating.
Remember too, that on an item of this value you are quite likely to be charged GST & duty when the item arrives in the country. Although most auto parts don't attract customs duty, there is duty payable on clutch plates. You need to factor that in when comparing.

We don't do business over the public forum. Either email or pm me & we'll work out a price if you want to buy the product.

what are you using your car for? power? (be realistic)
i can source genuine, aftermarket and TRD
maybe you should give me a call and discuss your needs. im sure i can do you the best deal for what you need.

i know trd usa have there own product line. they are a semi seperate company and manufacture/offer parts not for sale in japan. im sure they do not re badge parts though.

There's no better TRD agent than NZ's own TRD agent based in Wgtn.

im sure all the other ppl in nz (like toyota) would disagree with that statement
TRD parts are available through Toyota dealers
