you mean FLYWHEEL? not firewall right?
as an idea a clutch kit on my starlet cost 250 bucks and it was fit with me and some mates over 6 hours 3 over 2 days, and for the record.. i might be wrong.. But both your gearboxes mite be the same as my old cars ( C52 err or C25 Front wheel drive single spinner )or would at least use the same clutch kit.. i belive from memory was an 8 inch clutch plate,
not an overly hard job.. But defantly not as simple as adding a air filter or screwing in a blow off valve..
but yes does sound like slippy clutch to me.. and yes burnouts i belive would have contributed to this.. how ever if it was old clutch it was bound to go some day anyway..
i suggest u find a clutch kit
Clutch plate
Pressure plate
release Bearing
repco sell them so do Brake and transmission i belive ( BNT ) also a few other places..
but 500 mark from toyota to do the job seems quite good.. unless im mistaken and they just mean the parts then tell them to get bent..
Not sure if others will agree but i dont belive a massive hevey duty clutch it worth anything unless you really have a massive power increase to justify such a clutch..
i belive my clutch kit was 15% stronger than stock ( how ever in the real world what does that mean aside from brand name and cost more )
sum may dissagree with me.. but i recon a decent stock replacement would suit the job just fine.. use the money else where. ?? Perhaps Buy a TRD flywheel thats lightend or sum shit.. at least that will give a power gain i belive
