Three pedal auto!??!

Postby Ae92typeX » Sun May 02, 2004 1:16 am

This is probably off topic, but its technical so yea...
I was at the wreckers afew days ago and just before I left (it was raining hard as), I saw some toyota diesel...possibly a corona, Im not sure... it was an auto, but had a third small as pedal in where the clutch pedal would be. I didnt have time to trace it, but it had linkages etc. It def wasnt a clutch as it was way smaller.
Just wondering out of intrest if anyone else seen this or know what it is??
Cheers

very bad idea in my experience

nothin like cruising down the road & going to overtake someone, drop down a gear & oh SH!T, full lockup ...

anyway .. does make it a bit easier for those emergency turns where you need both hands ;)

no it doesn't, u have to fumble around under the dash to pull the release. also there isn't much use of the steering wheel required for a hand brake turn, 1 hand is plenty!
meh.....

a rear brake pedal, awesome!!

all you then need is to block off the rear brake fluid lines from the master cylinder and practice some serious left-foot braking.

ARGH these things SUCK!
We had one of our clients driving a Priviea (I think thats what the new Toyota van is called?) and it had one. Someone needed to get out of a park he was blocking so I went to move it.
Ok... Where is the hand brake??
I search around for 5 mins and I still can't find it!!!
Eventually, the guy comes out and says "Look on the floor"

Doh.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

My dad has an Estima (Previa shape van thing) - handbrake is between the drivers seat and the door.

Is it still a handbrake if you use your foot to engage it?
