Death to a tranmission - I need a trustworthy Tradsperson

Postby Chelles » Fri May 14, 2004 11:32 am

Hi all,

My MR2's trans died a nasty death last nite. I need to know of a good and trustworthy tradsperson in Auckland to get her towed to. If you know of anywhere that wont charged like an angry bull ... let me know :)

Thanks a bunch

Doing this without a hoist is not a job for mere mortals.

yip yip did it in my AW11 without the use of a hoist (blah blah its only a AW11 and it wasnt easy) but yeah.. wouldnt like to see anyone take an engine out without a hoist of some sort. I ended up hiring one to get it back up in there :o

Was just talking to chelles and looks like we may be taking the engine out this weekend.. pending a proper diagnosis ;)

A friend of mine said she was going to change the cam belt without even taking the engine out of the car and that she had done it before.

.... Tui, anyone?
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

According to a chap who bought a whole lot of MR2 gearbox parts off me, not only did Casper Transmissions take months not to rebuild his gearbox, they lost half of the parts as well. YMMV. Sorry I can't make a positive recommendation for anywhere else, never having been through this pain myself.
