It should fit being quite a compact engine,
But the question is why?
When a 1UZFe is a far superior engine
Have a look at www.lextreme.com for more information and ideas
(Im guessing that you are in the states when you mention the Tacoma)

how can you say a motor that pulls on average of 250+hp bad???

i have a small block chevy in a series 2 RX7 and its pulling round the 350hp mark and they dont actually weigh that much and im not knocking the 1UZ cause i also have a 1UZ twin turbo in a toyota corolla 2 (major mods to fire wall etc)

as for ease of fitting the SBC will fit pretty much any engine bay out there, the 1UZ is 600 square and you have to remember with the 1UZ you have all the wiring, computer etc to wire up where as with a SBC its pretty much straight forward. fuel lines are there and are big enough and the wiring should just wire up to the motor.
there is a toyota corolla DX sedan here in wellington that has a 350 in it and it is dam quick with 500hp :?

Chevy Small Block A26.50" B27.00" C20.50" C26.00" D27.00" rear right
A being total lentgh from bellhousing to front of water pump snout, D being the total width from the edge of valve cover to valve cover.

personally i would go SBC for ease of apllication and they can get an easy 500hp+ N/A with stuff all major mods and parts are so readily available its not funny.

being the owner of both motors i preffer the chevy over 1UZ.
theres my 2 cents worth (well 4 cents with that much :P)

more to come ;)

the 1UZ is 600 square

I was lead to believe that the 1UZ was closer to 700mm?
But still quite alot bigger than the SB Chev
Correct me if im wrong

Never seen anyone make an "easy" 500hp from a small block. Don't believe all the numbers people spout off.
Having said that, at least with the small block you don't have to piss around with all the excess wiring and given were talking about a Tacoma it means "I am in the US" so the small block will be a much cheaper proposition with parts on every street corner.
