Independant IC fan control?

Postby Audi » Fri May 14, 2004 12:47 am

How hard is it to either have switchable control of my water-air ICs radiator fan or have it on all the time? Is it a good idea?

Wiring up your water-air intercooler pump to run continuously will be more beneficial than the fan.

find the pump wiring, wire earth to hard earth then the switched positive side to your ign circuit i would imagine that way when you turn the car on it turns the I/C pump on also

Unfortunately with GT4's Audi once you remove the IC pump from the factory wiring, the ecu notices there is no load, brings up code 54, check engine light and goes into limp mode. One way around this is to put a load on the circuit, most people use largish ceramic resistiors bolted to the chasis.
I think there might be another way to do it at the IC ecu by bridging some terminals or something like that but you would have to ask someone that has already done it.

Audi I discovered you can unplug the relay thats just to the right of the intercooler on top of the engine and bridge the terminals which supply 12v to the pump and it gives no error codes and doesnt require the use of resistors which get really hot and burn and waste power. If you aren't sure of which terminals to bridge maybe bring it over some time and I can show you.

That sounds a lot easier! Probably get round to doing it after exams.
