K50 gbox wiring

Postby coleman » Thu Jun 03, 2004 9:11 pm

i just put a new k50 in a few weeks ago, but the electrical points for the reverse lights got ripped out,
i tried soldering back on but when car got rolling - no luck

i still have the old box - where the connection is sweet - it looks like the whole piece can be unbolted, am i right? is it easy?

any help would be good

Yes the whole piece can be unscrewd but if the g/box is already mounted in the tunnel chances are you wont be able to loosen it off because its on the top side of the bell housing, as far as i can remember ne way? Same thing happend to me when i put a k50 in my starlet, but i just left it.
You dont 'need' reversing lights
hope it helps?

nah, you dont need backing lights for a warrent

they do come in handy if you get out and about at night though, as you surely know

You could fit a little switch that the gear lever pushes against when put into reverse and have that trigger a relay that turns on reverse lights (or if you wanna go hard core a set of rear fog lamps...)
That's what I was thinking of doing, my reverse switch died on me... I think I burnt it out... Tee hee... 55W reverse bulbs... tee hee...
Only thing is you'd need to attach the switch to the gearbox... otherwise you can't guarentee connection all the time... something I never bothered to think about how to overcome... Still shouldn't be too hard...
