16v 4AGE cam spec

Postby NA Drifter » Sat Jun 26, 2004 3:15 pm

I notice for the factory Spec of the 4AGE 16v, the redtop got more power than the bluetop.
The differents from the design between these engine ..from what I can tell it,
1: Compression
2: intake port size & Tvis
3: cam lift and duration

So I wonder which is the main reason(s)for the power incress for the redtop engine..??

Redtop got more compression but smaller port and no TVIS, less lift on the cam and also sorter duration cam??

Compression and smaller port+ no tvis might give you more power but the cam lift and duration is reduced?? :? Is there any reason for that? They using the same cam profile (lift and duration)as the 4AGZE engine!

Why they don't stay with the more duration and lift cam for the redtop engine from the bluetop cos that might give you even more power??

the redtop runs a different ECU which could account for a kw or two.

spose to give a small gain uptop and a sacrifice low down but without the TVIS it has a really loppy idle, dont think granny would want an fxgt which goes brap brap brap

ohh ic... well, is ok if you after performance then... loppy idle sounds make the car sounds like sick.. which is cool when you rev the engine up as it will give the nice roaring sounds 8)
