snells springs in penrose do it ( as well as make coils). yes u have to take them out 1st. Personally for the cost i wouldnt bother... just buy lowered springs as its nearly the same cost. You will get a WOF so long as they remain captive when the car is jacked up.

You may well sneak through a WOF but they won't be legal without a cert.

Of course they are legal! As long as the spring is captive then its fine. You are not permitted to CUT the springs - but you are permitted to compress them.

nah, any heating or cutting of the springs results in needing a cert. easy to get round though, get them powdercoated yellow/blue/whatever catches your eye and they look just like a set made for the car which IS legal.

I though you were not permitted to heat the spring? And to compress them requires them to be heated, you can also tell if a spring has been compressed by looking at it.

Not 100% sure though :?:

this has been covered in depth on nzpc and according to the ltsa people you are NOT allowed to heat/compress them snells are just blacksmiths chances are you wont get a wof they wont be captive without shortened shocks (mabey)
for the price and the strife its cheaper and easyer to get real springs
assuming that they are avaliable for your car model

my mates langly has cobras for the frount and compressed springs in the back because they didnt make rear springs

Snells do it for $90 a pair I think. I have had a few sets done there. They even give you this little certificate to say it was done profesionaly.

A mate did it himself once. Soooo uneven. Looked rangy as.
I had to beat them to death with their own shoes!
