[ae101 4age] airbox + podfilter

Postby agrath » Sun Sep 05, 2004 11:28 pm

hey all...

okay,
1992 Trueno GT Apex, AE101, 4age, 20v think thats it, no other mods.. though i'm told non factory extractors... not sure what brand

couple of small things in this post, while Nick was looking at the engine mount under the airbox i was alerted to the fact the bracket on the bottom of it has been broken... since i'm a bit of a perfectionist... i will get it fixed...
should i replace the airbox? is the bracket part of it? (pics later, digicam is fixed)
if i dont replace the airbox, my brother (cheapo) gave me his old wildcat pod filter... and i'm going to be broke rather soon so i'll use that for a while then get another one...
as such, i need a adapter to go from the stock air intake into the pod...
should this be sourced from repco or similar?

do i really need a cold airbox... since the bracket on the factory box is broken, does this mean even if i get a pod i need to fix this?

hmm, yeah thats it

if you are going to run a pod it is recommended that yoiu either construct or buy an airbox to shield the pod from sucking in hot air from the engine bay.

Can be done quite easily.

Otherwise you could get a K&N panel filter to fit your current air box.

How important is the broken bracket? You may not even need it.

I don't know if the current box is important, but I do know that if you grab it and lift it, it bounces around and stuff, has the potential to damage air intake or something eventually...

Ahh phewy,

My mount for the airbox near the gearbox mount is broken also... but allas it doesnt move much..

Aftermarket ideas, use a k&n panel in the factory box, and ull find a 3" duct will fit into the factory hole in the airbox perfectly (a little squeze here and there).. and pop that through the inner guard... cheer

What stuff have you used? my piping stuff would easily fit a tennis ball in, its probally a bit smaller than a soft ball. where can i get some small stuff? (ps i got this stuff from placemakers)

what you have to do man, is you know teh factory piping to you air box? asshole that, and at the bottom just behind the battery tehres the whole to the resonator tank in the inner guard, you will have to remove that... (this can be done by gitting into the wheel arch and remving some of the flappy bits untill u can see it and pull it out.

then you just have to enlarge the whole a little, paint it up so that it doesnt rust then run yoru pipe down thru it, easy as pie
