Compressed Springs

Postby RE20 » Thu Sep 16, 2004 5:16 pm

Hello I wanna lower my kp starlet and I'm thinking of compressing the springs and getting new shocks to fit.

What sort of price would I be looking at to get a set of 4 springs compressed? Im just wondering what the general price is. I think I will get it done by pit stop, drive in , drive out.

Any suggestions? and Im not asking if it is legal or not.

Im expecting less body roll and a nicer height, until I get kings.

Yeah my mate PumpN got his springs for an old school 323 done there, they are sent away though. TSV in palmerston north also have them sent away so I'd say they go to the same place.

Hmm $300, alot more than I thought, I can get king superlows for that :)

I was thinking $40 a spring? lol

Yeah compressing springs is generally around $60-80 a pair depending on where you go. Shortening the shocks is around $100-120 a pair depending, maybe thats where your getting you $300 figure from Pervert?

Ive been told someone at a local workshop in levin will 'lower' any car for $300, im guessing this must be compressing/shortening the shocks?

I cant have my back shocks shortened so will be going for some aftermarket shorter shocks. What sort of places are capable of compressing springs? may be cheaper to go direct?

I like the idea of just leaving my car with someone and then picking it up all ready to go. I can't do any of the work myself.

I have been told why the back shock on a kp cannot be shortened but have forgotten so if anyone knows can you please tell me? :) TSV in palmerston north couldnt think why the wouldnt be able to be shortened?

Thanks!

edit- While we are on the subject of suspension can someone please tell me what front 'inserts' do? I have been told to make it captive I will need shorter shocks in the rear , makes sense, and new inserts for the front? Why not use shorter shocks for the front? I hope that makes sense!
