fuel pump checks

Postby Caveman » Tue Sep 14, 2004 10:23 pm

Hi
I wanted to check my fuel pump to see if its running correctly (I currently have problems with the car). What voltage does it run at and what pressure and volume should it pump?
It is for a Gen1 3SGE and I have it out of the car.

Also what goes wrong with these pumps and can they be repaired?

If these pumps fail, throw it away and get a new one. As a general rule, they either go or dont. Best tested in the car, connect a pressure gauge and should be around 200 kpa or 30psi. Should also flow around 2 litres per minute. Hope this helps.

Turns out the pumps fec'd. It runs fine for 10-15 seconds then dies to an irregular low pressure flow.

Got one from a 91 bluebird SSS and it fits perfectly :D
