ST165 Boost cut

Postby matt dunn » Thu Sep 30, 2004 12:19 am

Is there anyway of easily removing the overboost cut,

and what PSI is it at?

This car has an AFM and does not have a pressure sensor that I can find.
Brings up overboost fault code all the time?

ST165 boost cut is done from the AFM output as far as I can tell. Usually around 12psi but can vary. Sure sign of a failing AFM is the boost cut dropping down to 9 or 10 psi. It varies as it is in effect a flow cut, not a boost cut (make sense?).

The ST185 AFM bolts straight on. If having fuel cut trouble try one of those (I ran one for years).

There is no pressure sensor.

You can get a FCD to fit but as that caps the output of your main flow measuring device it is a bit dodgy. I have an HKS one that is faulty. If any good with electronics you could probably replace the components (they are simple). $10 assuming I can find it!
