Just a quick question.....Is a 4agze a full clearence motor? Meaning even if the cam belt breaks the valves will clear the pistons?

cheers

Haha yes they are, my cambelt 'fell' off the other week, no valve damage. Luckily i was only doin about 2500rpm at the time.

Depends how your driving it when it happens tho, if it breaks at 7500 then the valves will hit each other and there will be damage

yes they are, but for the price of a OEM belt, and the tensioner for that matter, why are you asking this

I have adjustable cam pulleys and I want to know that I definitly have full adjustment without putting my valves through the pistons which can happen in other engine setups.

Same way as you do with a distributor. Grab a timing light and check your timing, to adjust it just loosen off that bolt and turn the sensor slight to retard/advance timing.

Yea thats easy but what about if you have completly removed it?. I assume you need to set it up on TDC No.1 and then line up something on the crank angle sensor?

lol, you mark it before you pull it out :P I just had to do that earlier this week and it was a bitch to get back in. You have to have it back in on the right tooth otherwise your timing will be all to hell.

You'll have to put it in about where you think is right and see if it starts up. If not move it around a tooth or whatever and see if that works. I'm sure someone else will have a better method than that, but thats what I ended up doing. Actually, I got engine to TDC and lined up the arm inside the CAS with the trigger and put it in there. DIdn't work but it wasn't far out. Carefully removed it enough to turn it around one tooth and tried again. Took a while, but its all sweet now :D

"you mark it before you take it out" lol how many people have told me that now :P

Did you line it up with the top magnetic pickup or bottom when you had it at TDC? I lined it up with the bottom pickup and it worked but the timming was waaayyy out. (like 30degrees retarded lol)

If you did that then you're probably only one or two teeth out. As for the marks I set them up for the top one but I dont think it will matter anyway due to being a twin coil design.Just keep playing ;)

Been told by two people now that you line up the mark on the end of the sensor gear and the groove on the stationary part and slot it in to the head while the engine is TDC no.1.

cheers for ya help anyway :)
