Auto 4A-GE into AE-85

Postby Rick » Tue Oct 19, 2004 6:27 pm

I am planning on putting a big port red top 4A-GE in to my ae-85 I was going to buy a AE-92 levin/trueno and use the engine, wiring loom and any other bits I can. Now the thing is I can get a trueno for cheap but it is automatic is there any differences to the wiring loom compared to a manual? and is the computer different?

cheers

to answer your question = yes there is a difference

using an auto engine will cause you some major headaches with the wiring... used an auto engine in my conversion and probably held us up a good week or two just tryin to figure it all out. this is with blue-top however.. not too sure on redtops?

if possible, try and go for a manual engine - wil save u trouble in long run.

when i was doing a mates manual conversion the only headache there was with the auto loom was the inhibitor switch, just removed it out of the circut, we had no futher problems after that :?

Yeah - starter inhibitor, just connect the wires together.
Also - computer might have a slightly different idle otherwise the same as far as I know.
