two-piece driveshaft mount

Postby kingcorolla » Thu Oct 28, 2004 9:16 pm

ye today i was in my mates KE70 wag, and we were cruising along, then
bang - brdrdrdrrdrdrdrdr... rear uiniversal joint popped its pin.
I later found this was obviously caused by having no tension in the leafs (2 leafs removed ) and was torque flexing like a mother, whiched actually caused another to pop within half hour of replacing the 1st one. 8O
So we decided to go back to mine, and add a short leaf (from the wrecking yard that is my back yard  ) on each side for more tension.

Whilst under the car for a while i asked what the strange mounting point was in the floor tunnel of his car, abouve the driveshaft. He said this car originally is a CE70. 1c engine -1800 diesel, now is 4k, and 1c's came with a T50/40, and a 2-piece driveshaft setup?!

blah blah anyway, my question is, when i asked if i could scoop this box/shaft setup off him, then checked one of the KE70s in my back yard, turns out the factory 4k wagon still had this mounting points for the two piece, but a one piece driveshaft.. but the KE70 sedandoesent...
