Now this shows my total lack of mechanical knowledge but where is it in my ST-185 engine bay?

Under the top radiator hose, remove the battery and intake plumbing to the turbo, move the fusebox out of the way and it's right there, two 14mm bolts holding the sucker in besides the obvious posotive and negative terminals.

it should be close to the flywheel - i'm a bit concerned if it isn't. but flywheel should be found where the clutch or gearbox join to the engine :)
