Can anybody tell me the difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2 1GGTE's
Apparently the early model had TVIS and slightly less power, also does anyone know how much boost & compression these motors run standard from the factory? there doesn't seem to be a lot of information about them on the net.

I think the earlier ones had a small top mounted intercooler. And the newer ones ran front mounts.

There's not really much difference between the 3 generations 1G's

1+2 Gen has yellow plugs instead of greay plugs with the Gen3.

They all run an 8:5:1 compression I think. The main difference between them is stock boost.

Gen1 - 7.5psi
Gen2 - 9.6psi
Gen3 - 11.6psi

I'm not completely sure on the exact boost figures but that's pretty close to what it really is. Also between the Gen2 & 3 there is about a 25hp difference and about a 15hp difference between Gen1 & 2.

I have a link somewhere lying around with all the figures from the different generations...i'll try tracking it down and post it up.
