yup, it starts fine, just when i turn it off it does it everytime...
throttle body dirty?
but how does that explain the hissing noise and the gas smell?

Is your filter setup new?- that will create a hiss as the engine turns off- all my engines with any type of pod have done that.
As for the running on, make sure all your timing etc is correct, also check your plugs to see if it appears to be running rich or not.
Cant believe im still a member here.

Perhaps your timing is too retarded, that can cause running on as you describe. Also known as deisling.

running on is where the engine fails to stop when ignition is cut, causes can be by hot spots in combustion chaber, incorrect timing, wrong plugs, fuel cut solenoid failure, too high idle speed or maybe an overheated engine.

And a hissing noise with a ranflow is not suprising, especially if your motors running on 8O
just check the things people have listed asap
dieseling is a type of abnormal combustion, and should not be ignored as it can do serious damage 8O

it only started happening when i put my ramflo air filter on, someone suggested i got an oil breather filter, so i did, nothing changed.
when i put my stock air filter set up on it doesnt hiss or anything it runs perfect.

there is no set idle when the ramflo is in, it drops to 400rpm then goes up to 1600rpm then drops again by itself when it idles.

drives fine... then you turn it off and it begins to running on and then hisses really loud.

will carb cleaner do anything?
ill check those things out tomorrow.
thanks for all the help guys!

Next time it does it, If you are qiuck enough, put it in 1st and slowly release clutch. I think you will find you go backwards! Yeah its usually a timing related problem. Check all vacuum hoses etc coz the hiss may be one blowing off under positive pressure

and maybe something to do with the idle jet or something,,,, now that you getting more air but the idle jet is still the same size it may cause the engine to run lean and causing the deiseling, just a guess hope it helps

no performance increase i can feel...
just the noise it makes is why i bought it.

I bought some carb cleaner and it hasnt hissed since and doesnt "run on" for as long either.. still runs on, but only for a short period of time, if it starts hissing again ill get it checked out immediatly/

yes your car will go backwards, thats because the ENGINE is rotating BACKWARDS!!! thats the hissing noise you are hearing, air getting shot up through the carb

UH OH. That can't be good...
Sounds like your cam belt could have slipped a few teeth maybe... Although that would make it run funny....
Hmm... It's got me thinking now.....
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
