4AGE Big port inj. Vs Small port inj. Swap possible?

Postby Disco » Wed Dec 01, 2004 4:32 pm

If Bill is reading and wants to shed some light.... 8)

I'm already confident this is possible but it's a case of how much work is involved.

Bluetop (Big port - TVIS) has, apparantly a single pintile injector array/rack/assortment/collection.

Redtop (Small port - Non-TVIS) has, apparantly twin pintile injectors.

(for n00bs, this means that the single pintile has one stream of fuel aimed at the port divider whereas the twin has a stream of fuel aimed at each valve)

If I wanted to get some redtop injectors and put them in my bluetop, would it be a swap out swap in operation or would they need modification?

has anyone done this and does it make a difference?

Any info will be rewarded with chocolate and beer*

*chocolate and beer is fictional item. :D

ps. I see that the smallport injectors are 53ccs bigger - does this actually make a difference to the fuel delivery as in will bigger injectors automatically mean it runs rich?
