SW20 MR2 seats also bolted in to my KE70 with minimal modification on the inside rails. Nice seats too.

seats

Postby crispy'86 » Mon Jan 03, 2005 6:17 pm

with the ae92 seats u have trouble as they are far too wide on the base hitting the driveshaft tunnel and sit a bit higher than sw20 seats on the chassis. SW20 seats may be alright as they are close to the orig bolt pattern but feels a bit weird sitting high in the car

I just scored an early evo recaro seat for my ae86. Take the bottom brace off the seat so you are only left with the rails and tabs, the front holes line up perfectly with the mounts in the floor. You need to grind the bottom off the tabs with the holes in them otherwise the boot lever doesn't come up far enough and the left side rests on the floor if you use the middle hole in the tab. I want to lower the seat as much as possible so im going to round the top of the hole to get the rail sitting flat on the x-member.

The right side rail sits on the rear mount fine so you could bolt it to the side of the mount or use a small headed bolt and drill a hole through the rail. The left side will need an L-shaped bracket made up to come back around to the factory hole as the rails are longer than the factory items.
