shaft play & chip on the compressor wheel....

Postby KiwiMR2 » Tue Jan 25, 2005 7:08 pm

How much of an effect would this be?? Have a friend who has had a ct20b offered to him for $630 with roughly 105,000 km's on it. Is it worth while??

Cheers

Run far, far away from from it, by the time you pay for a rebuild it'll cost more than a new one ;)

Done :) I'll let him know. He was thinking of going for a high flowed ct26 but has decided a ct20b is a better option so I guess he will keep hunting.

Cheers

yeah chip in comp wheel bad bad news....i had a ct26 with a chipped comp wheel (bought to be highflowed)and went to get quoted on getting it highflowed...out of curiosity asked if it was any use as is , and they said they had no idea what caused the chip or where that object was now or wat other damage it did...but yeah pretty much useless like that :?

Chances are the chips a result of a lack of filtration at some point in time and somethings hit the compressor at high speed, I had a ct26 with a munted compressor but happened to have a spare compressor wheel which I took to the local turbo shop and they swapped it over for $40 without balancing it which I wasn't too fussed about at the time but on a ceramic ct20b which I have been told are not rebuildable I would be very dubious.
