Turbo questions

Postby z|gen » Thu Feb 03, 2005 12:38 pm

hey
im a bit new to turbos, trying to find some information out about them, have tried searching google, but just brings up bullshit trademe auctions etc.
where could i find some information about the CT9, CT20, and the CT26, like specs etc, are these turbos suitable for an engine of around 1500cc, or will i need something slighty bigger/smaller.

cheers David

the later two should be alright

it completely depends on what yuo want to get out of yuor motor the ct9 is wot cums on a turbo starlet good for quick spool up(giving boost) but theyr small so not much good for anything else the later two a are bit bigger will develop boost later in the rev range all should be able to run at least 11pounds but again depends on yuor set up and wot you want wether you want something to blow the doors off people or sumthing jst to give a bit more kick
drive it till it breaks, then upgrade it

A CT9 would be pretty good on a 5k, particularly if you're only gonna rev it to 6k rpm, as teh CT9 will be running out of puff around then.
A TD04 might be an option too.

i want a good allround sort of turbo setup, at the moment will be running it with a vr4 front mount, im looking for something that when i drop down a gear and accelerate, i feel it, im not asking for like a full on drag car, but something i can have some fun with out on a circuit or at meremere/masterton for instance, im not quite sure on which is better, is there a tech article that i can read ?

Auto VR4's, or GSR Lancers, or get a TD04L off the early WRX.
