Not always, it depends on the type of oil. The change in colour in engine oil is due to combustion contaminants etc, not heat, unless it's seriously crap oil and the engine is very very hot, and even this is highly unlikely. If your comment were correct then gearbox oil would go black too.

wiht my mate on his farm once we took all fluid out of it to see how long it would last all oil all brake fuid all gearbox fluid everything fluid jst coz we were young and dumb and it was on video to see if we could blow it up in style, it was an old bout 84 mitsi mirage hatchback, and it went for bout 10 mins driving around the paddock, before the motor jst stoped no big bang that sucked but anyway it was auto, so weither drving 10 minutes with no gearbox fluid constitutes as runnig im not sure but there you go but of something about nothing
drive it till it breaks, then upgrade it

just to reply to all ur comments i know 2 liters of oil sounds like a lot to come from an exhaust but thats how much came out once the turbo and front pipe was disconected and yes to answer ur other question there was a smoke screen that james bond would be proud of.... it was for lack other words $&#$% huge.....

ive had to get the engine replaced simply because i dont know what other damage has been done by this oversight on company "x's" behalf but im thinking of asking them to front up for half of the cost of the the new engine ....( which comes to $1000 since the new engine is costing me 2k)

i feel that this would be a fair request since their mess up required the removal of the engine regardless of what damage has been done ( and thats atleast a couple days labour cleaning and striping)....

but on the other hand its impossible to prove that the oil being over filled was what caused all the damage ( if we find any)

what do u guys think?
is this a resonble request to make?

Was this straight after the oil change, or 5 days later?

If it got 9 litres of oil in it, it wouldn't last 5 days before letting off the smoke screen, it would be unhappy almost straight away...

no thats the thing it only happend after bout 700kms which makes me think that the oil pressure caused the engine to hydrolic and damage sumthing more serious

It would not do 700km's with 9L of oil in it without you noticing.

A friend put about 6L in his Celica and within 50km it was smoking like a train.

So, are you sure you actually emptied the gbox fluid? Seriously, an a/t cant physically operate without fluid. When you change with the shifter, you're not physically moving gears into place - you're controlling solenoids which control the flow of the fluid, which is used to operate the gbox.
