Ecu swap over

Hey,

Can someone tell me weather it is possible to run a slivertop 4age (to be converted to a 4agte) with a 4agze ecu?. What will i have to change?

Sofar i can think of:

Map sensor
Crack angle sensor

Roughly how much would a ecu+map sensor cost?
The reason i want to do this is that im dropping new 4agze injectors, pistons and rings into my 4age, vr4/gsr turbo etc, and new a new ecu, but snice i'm only planning on running around 10psi, a standred 4agze ecu should handle that fine. Right? Cause i don't really want to spend a grand on a link/megasquirt if i can get away with a stock 4agze ecu.

Any help would be great.

I wouldnt bother with the hassel get a megasquirt and go youll never look back once you have it sussed. plus the exta code has some real nice stuff once you have the basics sorted

With a megasquirt im gona need a map sensor and crank sensor aswell right? So thats not much of a advantage there.um..

Where do you get ahold of them in NZ? And big question, how much? (can solder, not completly stupid with electronics)

Ill find the link i payed around 210 all shipped for a complete kit you dont need a crank angle sensor and the map sensor is built into the unit. Depends what ignition setup you run for what other bits you will need. Im runnnig ford EDIS which is a coil pack, wasted spark arangement it uses a VR sensor and a toothed wheel on the crank pulley its very simple and effective also pretty cheap

Thanks alot. Is it possible to get a close tune (i.e. good enough for everyday use) using a narrow band oxy sensor?

^^ive read that, and it doesnt say you need.. a wide band sensor. How did you tune yours? And the kit, its a bag of bits? or is some pre done.

yea with a bit of patience you can get a good road tune maybe not perfect economy but you get a feel for things im still learning as I go. and the kit is a bag of bits easy as to solder up

Ok, cool. If you have a min or two, could you post up what else you needed to buy/obtain to get the megasquirt running, apart from the kit. And did you find that link?

also just read the mega manual and forums a million times then choose your spark option EDIS, MSn' Spark or the factory computer hooked up to control just spark. I can obtian EDIS sets coils, leads, vr sensors trigger wheels and edis units if you get there

Ok, leaning towards factory ecu for spark control...What sensors on the ecu are going to have to be "fooled" for it to continue to provide spark control? And can the tach output from the factory ecu be used to control the megaquirt? Or should i ask on teh forums?
