Electrical Issue

Postby TygerTung » Tue Apr 05, 2005 8:07 pm

I am having this problem with my corolla....

Yesterday I was driving to the library, and then the charge light came on. Understandably I was quite concerned about this, so after I went to the library, I went around to my friends house and we checked the voltages...

It seems that it is chargin correctly, as with the car off, the battery reads 13.5V, and with the car running, the battery reads about 14.5V.

In adition to the charge light not working, the oil light does not work,a and the fuel and temperature guages read low!

How can I fix this horrible problem!

13.5v seams a bit high when your car is off am i wrong?? Maybe its overcharging im pretty sure that can bring the light on too but that poast could be total BS its just my ubnderstanding.

your car has blown the ign fuse which supplies power to the dash gauges and alt light.

I bet the light does not come on when the key is on but the engine is not running.

When the alt starts to charge it put power out the w/light wire which is meant to put the light out,
but as there is no power at the bulb the current goes through the bulb to all the other thing in the circuit and causes the bulb to light up.
