Locked Keys in 1982 Ford Laser Hatch

Postby Helious » Mon Apr 11, 2005 5:33 pm

Hi,

I was distracted last night getting out of the car and accidentally locked my keys inside ~

No spare key.

How can I get into the car?

Coathanger?

Can someone please try and explain

Thanks

Heaps of ways - try similar keys. On these older locks, you can sometimes use another key. I opened me Sigma with a teaspoon, and my datsun with a padlock key.

Those plastic bands that are used to package newspapers - push it through the window as a loop, and try to hook it around the lock, and pull it up.

Use a straightened coathanger, either try and get it inside the car through the back of the door jam and flick the lock up (or backwards if its a side on lock).

If you can't do that, then bend a hook on the end of the coathanger and try and lift the bar inside the actual door that releases the lock.

It can be hard to do, and every car is different, but 323's of that era are piss easy, so it shouldn't be too different with yours.

Practice makes perfect...

If you want to to it that way the best stuff if what X suggested, the packing tape they clamp together around large boxes.

The coathanger down the door takes practice, but it will work. Once you know where to aim on a car, you can do it in seconds.

Fool-proof method is always hammer a flat-blade screwdriver into the lock and turn.

all good

my old man got a long flat head screwdriver, bent it into a U-shape and then put it through the side of the door(the rubber seal) and got the lock up.

Took him about 3 seconds. I have a feeling he has done that before.
