Paint code - what shade of white is my AW11?

Postby The_Lorax » Fri Apr 15, 2005 1:19 am

Hi all,

Does anyone know what paint code I have on my 1985 AW11 MR2? I'm removing some surface rust this weekend, and I'm having trouble deciding between Toyotas many variants of white.

My car is the same color as this one:

The paint would have faded a little, but I don't need the touch up job to be perfect.

Thanks for your help :)

have a look on your build plate, you will have a colour code listed. it should be a 3 or four digit code. then just type this number into google to get a match, or talk to a painter.

for the aw11 code 040 is listed as super white 2. dont think itll matter much after 20 years of fading though....

Ah.. so it is

I was looking at the paint codes for the US market instead of Japan

I'll go grab some touch up paint, nu-tech and primer tommorow.

I havn't done this before - I'm planning to sand it back to bare metal, primer that.. then fill the hole, spray primer on top of that.. sand the primer back and then do a few coats of touch up paint. Do I need to use some rust proofing agent as well?

I also need to adjust the TPS as it seems to be sticking, check the timing, tighten the handbrake and figure out why the gearbox won't change into 5th gear when warm. Should be fun.
