A head gasket and bolts.
If your planning on bolting a 20v head on a supercharged bottem end then it should bolt straight on.
Dont know about the redtop bottem end though as that has domed pistons

Bolt straight up easy as, just a few little issues once you've got it on but nothing too serious.

Depends on the block I guess but the 20V doesn't have the drain back from the head to the sump, I had to grind off some of the cam gear cover to fit it on past the power steering pump (where it pivots), manifolds which you've probably thoughts about, whether you want the VVT hooked up or not. I know a couple of those are minor things, but you'll need to think about them either way.

Oh, and the distributor wiring (not sure what the plug looks like on the non-crank angle sensored engines) and you'll have to check injectors sizes and things also as the 20V fuel rails have side fed injectors instead of top fed. Not too sure on injectors sizes on the different models, but its something you might need to check. And of course the plugs on the injectors could be different to what you have on the 16V loom

problems

Postby illicit » Tue May 03, 2005 8:45 pm

I got the whole motor from a smashy one so everything i need is there the only problem is the leg out of bed otherwise i would have jst swapped the motor over. Have you done this swap before HRT?

As far as I know the 20v extractors wont fit if the starter is on the front of the block. Thats not hard to fix though.

have just finished this mod myself, ended up having to lengthen the primary in question by around 40-50mm to allow it to clear the ae82 starter motor

Yeah, just tidying the wiring up now and modifying the exhaust manifold from my 16V to fit on the 20V head. Oh yeah, you'll need to do that too :P Wasn't enough meat on the flange to just slot them as people say you can do but I'm not using a standard manifold.

If you've got all of both engines then you should haven't any trouble, probably use either head gasket (I'm using the 16V one as I bought the overhaul kit for the 4AGZE before being offered the 20V head). Other stuff that you need that isn't in a 16V kit is the inlet cam oil seal, rocker cover gaskets, spark plug seals and.... something else I cant remember. Not too sure about spark plug leads as yet since I'm trying to use the GZE coil packs which mean that the silvertop leads (which you'll need 20V leads for that head) dont actually plug into the coil packs. If you're sticking with a distributor then this wont be an issue though.

Just ask if there is anything you need to know.

Well i know it can be done so thats the main thing :D I'll just use the dizzy and 20v leads. The exhaust isn't a issue as its going turbo anyway. I'll give you a yell if any troubles occur :D
