Help my foggies wont go!

Postby rolla_fxgt » Tue May 10, 2005 4:56 pm

I know theres probally some really basic answer to this but on my fxgt(ae101) ive noticed that the fog lights arent going. Where should i start looking to fix this prob? I know i could check the bulbs but i want an easier answer 1st before i take of the bumper to check them.
Would of driving through water in flooded chch repeatedly at highish speeds blown the fuse or sumthing?

It will probably either be the bulbs are blown, or the fuse has popped.

As far as having to take the bumper off to check the bulbs, that should not need to be done...the light cases should have screws in the front or back to remove them.

Driving through water would only cause a problem is the casing is cracked, or the seals have gone on the lights, and water has got into them.

Well if you can dislocate ur wrists u might be able to get them out without taking the bumper off but it seems alot easier to do it off the car. Il check the seals, seems odd that both bulbs have blown at the same time

There will be an easy way.

Have you checked the fuse? Probably located in the drivers kick panel or close to that area.

yeah you wont need to take the bumper off eh..
they wouldnt exactly design it so it requires bumper removal for everytime you change the bulbs

You can get to the spotties by taking out the indicators, 1 screw each side and also from the bottom just loosen of the splash tray. I have had mine out before with out needing to take off the bumper.

It will probalby be a bulb which are cheap and repco has them, its probably a half hour job to do both with a 10mm (I think) socket and rachet or ring spanner, and a phillips screw driver.

its very odd that both foggies went out at the same time....

just be sure thats the problem, or you just forking out for bulbs that replace ones that are fine!

connect the positive for the foggies up to a 12v supply (through a fuse obviously, just incase), and see if they turn on.

if they do, obviously your bulbs arnt screwed....its some sort of connection at fault.

Switch? Fuse? Wiring itself? most likly theres a relay involved somewhere etc.

Or buy a $15 multimeter, do a continuity test and save yourself shitloads of time and 12v burns...you'll use it again too... :D
