7mgte oil pressure

Postby deaf_rattle » Mon Apr 18, 2005 1:45 pm

:7mgte:

OK, some of you will know im experiencing some pretty wierd oil problems.

now, there is oil in the oil filter (remotely mounted), so there must be oil pressure to that point.

But im not getting any oil pressure on the gauge (after market) and there is no oil in the line to this.

When we took off the cambelt and took off the oil lines to the turbo and checked if they were blocked, they were fine.

So we cranked the oil pump over by hand, and oil started to come out of the oil feed hole.

Blocked that up, then we got oil up in the head.

now that the cambelt is back on, same problem as before.

So whats going on?

Or do i chuck this engine away and get a 1uz?

Im really getting frustrated with 7mgtes now

Easiest way to fix would be to return the oil filter to its standard position on the block is it not? Toyota obviously designed the oil system that way as it worked, so why change it?

Plus having the oil filter mounted further away would increase the oil capacity of the motor, reducing the oil pressure to boot...

Remote mounting things is often because they are in the way or for easier access tro them. Toyota would have put it where they did because it was easy.

And increasing the capacity of the oil system will do next to nothing to the oil pressure either.

Where have you got the feed for the gauge? If you're getting oil everywhere quite easily and getting absolutely nothing showing on the gauge then I'd be putting it down to the gauge.

LOL have to agree, just like trying to hunt for the oil dipstick in an SW20  or the oil pressure sensor on a blacktop 8O :x

If you have just put the remote filter kit on, I would suggest that the lines are on the wrong way round. The anti-drainback seal in the filter wont let oil flow back the other way. Its only doing its job. The oil flows into the filter round the outside then back into the engine thru the center fitting
If it doesn't fit, force it.
If it breaks it needed replacing anyway!
