Should be fine with 15W40. What are these other noises like?

What are the condition of your auxillary belts like? I had some pretty nasty noises coming from mine mainly when cold but also when warm to a lesser extent. Ended up being the Supercharger and Alternator belts. Maybe if you can, take one belt off at a time and see if the noise stops, if so then replace the belt(s). Even if they are relatively new could still be the problem, by aux belts were only around 20kms old and the were buggered. 8O

Could possibly be the cambelt tensioner, but try the above first.

Personally id be running 10W40, but 15W40 is ok, shouldn't cause any tapping noises as such unless you havent changed the oil recently

The oil shouldn't make a noticeable difference. If it was noisey when cold, like aesc encountered, it may make a difference changing the cold property of the oil. If the engine is making annoying noises just turn the stereo up

In a bz-g you should be using a better quality oil than that. Go for a semi-synthetic and 10W-40.
