high stoplights on when parklights on

Postby 2fas4u » Wed May 18, 2005 6:06 pm

Hi all have these two probs

E1-Park lights working with brake lights-how do i fix that?
E4-High stop working with park lights- how do i fix that?

E1 and E4 is the WOF code. any idea what could be wrong? it is a 90 SW20 MR2. how did i know, cos that was one of the item i failed on in my recent WOF check. could it be the relay or just a fuse? those colour cubes in the fuse box that have headlights etc written on them, are they relays or they fuses? cheers

either a shared earth or they have been wired into the circuit incorrectly.

is it an aftermarket hi-stop light or has the factory one been relaced and the wiring spliced incorrectly?
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

neither, all lights were original. the only electrical mod i have conducted was hooking up the tacho to the negative ignition coil which i have finally found which is next to the diagnostic box (thanks to the person who told me that earlier). no splicing where done as the neg ignition feed has a female spade socket so i just got a male one and plugged it in.

defintly sounds like you have a shared earth possibly a short in 2 those circuits..

if they have a clear plastic top with a metal strip inside they are fusable links (fuses) if it just a plasic cube thing thats no see through its a relay
want a ae86, dont want to pay 8 grand for one
have to settle for my ae92

Either incorrect bulb fitted or bad earth, more likely to be incorrect bulb though. 8)
