Corona Spotlights

Postby ee904age » Tue Jul 26, 2005 7:03 pm

Hey guys and gals,

Just ironing out a few issues with my new Corona.
Its an ST171 GTR, and its got the spotlights/driving lights with the automatic lids. I've had a quick look over the wiring and everything seems up to scratch but they arent working (the lids or the lights).

Now, before I go pulling it to bits I was wondering if anyone knew of any common problems with these or has any suggestions? I also cant seem to find the fuse for them, would they be run off the headlight fuse???

I'm quite stoked with the car overall, paid $1500 for it, all electrics, semi buckets, manual, brand new WOF & REG, 160km and even a fridge!! What more could you ask for!!

Holy shit! you have an ST171 GTR 8O FINALLY someone else with one :)
Well when we got ours in 1994 it had them...and they worked, off a seperate switch off the dash, but mother decided to argue with a wall (slow speeds) and broke the pivot points on the lids so we removed them.
They ugly anyway....but I dont think their is a seperate fuse for them, they run off the parklights.

So is yours a facelift one? manual? mods?

yeah, I spotted that switch, still no go.

yeap its a manual facelift model, dead stock except for a brand new clutch, and some 17's.

Im not really planning on any mods, its just a daily driver while Im building the Starship.

hmm well check all the wires (green and red to the parklight) plus there is a plug on that wire as well. Some people disconnect them for the WOF.
Is yours gunmetal/black by any chance?

Sweet, will check them tomorrow. Yeah it is a dark grey/gunmetal colour with gunmetal coloured 17's and a big dent in the L/Rear door

in the past I've seen problems with other Toyota fog lamps due to corrosion on the plugs. CRC always helps :)
BTW those foglamps with the automatic lids are so cool!
