AE82 FXGT / GT Corolla question

Postby jonboy » Thu Sep 08, 2005 7:42 pm

Hi,

I have inherited a running but dereg 85 NZ new GT Corolla and a wof'd and reg'd 85 FXGT with a farked head that runs like sh*t. It looks as though they are both blue top engines and i was planning on doing an engine swap to make the registered one go.

At a glance there doesn't appear to be much room at the side of the engine bay for the engine to slide across if I was to separate it from the gearbox to remove or should i be taking the engine + gearbox out all at once? (want to keep the original gear box in the FXGT)

I'm new to fwd corollas so any other advice or handy hints would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Ive done this 5+ times. Pretty easy. Disconnect everything. remove bonnet and radiator and lift out the engine/gearbox together
