Postby escortman » Thu Sep 29, 2005 4:22 pm

i just bought a 1990 starlet sport , it has a 2E motor in it, im 16 so i cant turbo it becuz im not allowed a uninsured car, im currently in a 85 fxgt which has podfilter lowered and exhaust . wat can be done to the starlet to make it beat the fx, i suggested 2 my mechainc a 4age converision but apparently they dnt fit and i cant go turbo, so wat wud u guys reccomend, bein good mates with a mechanic i wont have to pay much labour but i stil only have around $1200 2 play with, my mechanic sed plain the head port polish cams pistons extractors and bigger carb but we r still waitin for a price, but other option is to sell it and find another fx and do that up HELP !!! does any 1 have a good condition fx for sale prefrebaly AE82 cheers

Personally I would bother trying to work the 2e not the best base to work off.

What are your goals with this car. Meaning why take a slow car and try and make it faster than your current car. Why not spend the money on your FX you'll get a far better result.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Sell it and start again

If you really want to keep it and go for an easyish swap then you could try and find an injected 2E (2E-E) and wire that up. Not a bad little motor if you want that little bit more go and want a cheap car to run still

Failing that try some of the other E series engines. Injected would be good but it depends if you want to go to the trouble of wiring it all up. 4E-FTE would be good, but you dont want to go turbo and if you're planning that then you might as well just buy a GT Starlet anyway

5E-FE or a 5E-FHE if you can find one, easy swap if you have the knowhow.

Ive been in a ep71 which had a 5efhe in it and it went bloody hard, would have given a stockish Starlet GT a run for its money.
