wat mods for AE82

im looking for a manul AE82 fxgt, wat mods should i do im onyl 16 so no turbo, im guessin 2 1/4in or 2 1/2in exhaust some better extractors, and get a piggyback chip or somethign for it jus to make it run that bit quicker, others things at later stage porting, polishing, plane the head am i on the right path? cheers

Yes, it sounds like you're on the right track. Make sure you service the car properly before you even think about starting modifying it though. All fluids, filters and so on. Get a compression test on the engine so you've got a better idea of what condition its in.

Once thats all done, then look at your intake (cold air, pod filter, intake tract etc), exhaust (headers, catalytic converter, muffler, resonators etc). If you have the car for long enough, you can consider new camshafts, thinner headgasket etc.

Make careful use of the search function at the top of the page, and you'll find TONS of information on this site about modifying your car. AE82s are one of the most common Toyota on here.

Yeah, basics are a good start

2 and 1/4 inch exhaust is fine and try to have as little restriction as possible, may need some to keep the noise down tho.

20V extractors are worth using other the std ae82 ones and only take a little modifying to fit.

Pod or open panel filter in a cold air box with good ducting

Then see how much timing you can crank into it. Have run 20-22deg on me old sprinter with similar mods to the above and it went very well for what it was.

yeh on my current fx (its auto) :( i have a pod filter and removed all the muffler and installed a big bore on end but its to loud failed a wof and its pissing me off , teh next 1 im goin to install free flow mufflers that make it quite but not as restrictive , i jus had a look at the stock extractors and they 4-2-1 im wondering if theres ne piont in worryin bout some others
