4agze pully kit building question

Postby lil » Thu Oct 06, 2005 6:38 pm

I'm just in the process of increasing the diameter of my crankshaft pulley and have a couple of questions.

Does any one know what size belt I will need to use?
Also what tensioner should I use? (part numbers anyone?)

I'm planning on turning an ally ring at work then press fitting it on the the turned down existing pully. I want to make a 175mm diameter pully, it this dimension taken from the outside or inside of the V's in the pulley?

Any help would be appreciated.

if you are going to the trouble of making the pulley yourself, it is PISS easy to do the tensioner, just go buy a bearing to suit, then it is pretty easy to make the pulley itself.

from my vague memory, 175 is the overall diameter, been a while since i've had it in front of me. simon maybe able to correct me if i'm wrong.

175mm is the outside of V
be careful if using alloy outer, have seen a few alloy ones that have moved, may pay to machine a locating shoulder and grub screw.

5pk 965,
you can machine a new outer for your original bearing as well, thou usually easier to go to a bearing shop.
