Hey what is controlling the boost when the pfc is plugged in?? I hit what felt like fuel cut while boosting in 5th gear on the motorway tonight, I didn't see a check engine light though :?: I had my profec on the normal hi setting (16 psi) but I was reading today that there is a certian level of boost control via the pfc.....even without the additional boost control kit?? Would the pfc be setting it to a certian level and then my profec trying to make it go higher??

Cheers

Without the boost control solenoid the PFC will have no ability to control boost mechanically – although it could be theoretically possible to control boost by a small amount with timing. Beyond that I can’t explain what you hit. Possible your injectors reached 100%?

Well after last night I made the trip into town on my "low" boost setting this morning. Had a couple of sorta hard boosts in the lower gears and checked the peak readings when I pulled up to work:

Injector Duty: 34.8
Ignition Timing: 51 deg
Boost: 0.77 kg/cm
Knock: 18

From the gas station to work I tried a run on the "hi" boost setting (only 1st and 2nd gear pulls:

Injector Duty: 59.4
Ignition Timing: 52 deg
Boost: 0.92 kg/cm
Knock: 25

SO what does all that mean :?

you need to run and review the trace map to see the timing advance youre running under WOT.With the ignition timing, the value you have there is just the max value overall, which dosent occur when the engines under load, probably occured during deceleration. Knock is acceptable, anything sustained over 60 will trigger the engine check light (providing youve enabled that function). The other two values are pretty self explanatory.

Didn't you say it yourself that you're running low and high boost modes? Damnit.

The injector duty cycle seems a bit damn low, you sure you've ring it all out to the redline?
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

I am.....at my dyno run 8 weeks ago I ran it on the HIGH setting of which they had it as 16 psi, since then I have added an intercooler and now the PFC shows it as 13 psi when Im supposedly on my HI setting :?

I didn't QUITE get to redline......I very rarely do.

Ok well again I tried boosting in 5th at 100 kph......it started to boost and bang, again what feels like fuel cut :? I checked the hc once home and it read my highest boost pressure as 1.03 kg/cm, that must be were I was stopped.

I noticed in the manual it says "When using a boost controller other than the power fc, be sure to set the power fc boost to a level where fuel cut will not occur"

It also says "If the boost rises 0.25 kg/cm over the preset boost levels, a fuel cut occur thereby notifying the user of a boost control problem"

remeber I haven't changed anything in the hand controller.....is there some "base map" setting that is limiting me from going over 1.03 kg/cm?

I don't know how you change this one the hand controller, but the stock map has a boost setting of 0.80kg/cm2 so will boost cut at 1.05kg/cm2.

On the Datalogit settings page there are four possible boost settings 0.80, 1.00, 1.10, & 1.20kg/cm2. I assume there must be some way to select a different entry from the hand controller even if you can't change the values.

Ahh...so that is it then, my profec on high is trying to allow me to boost to 16 psi & the pfc is limiting me to 1.05 kg/cm, that explains it then :)

I can see a page on the commander that lists 4 options....from memory much like the one's you mention above, I'll take a look when I get home :)

Thanks :)

Yep it worked.....saw about 1.22 kg/cm (17.3 psi) boost today with no issues, so for future referance the PFC boost control needs to be OFF to see above 1.05 kg/cm (14.9 psi).

you need to run and review the trace map to see the timing advance youre running under WOT.With the ignition timing

The manual jumps about a bit, is there an easy way to explain how I can see that?

If you read my reply on the other thread I told you to turn it off like 3 days ago :/
