DC headers?

Postby barryogen » Tue Nov 01, 2005 12:40 pm

Good bad or otherwise?
Just after a set of 4-2-1 for my 2zzge, and wondered what peoples thoughts on DC headers are.
These http://www.fortyone.co.nz/parts/view/13373.html are the ones I'm looking at.

A search for DC headers, or just plain DC came up with nothing, hence this post.

1 - Toyota did a pretty damn good job with the 2zzge! So it might be difficult to better the factory exhaust (just like several other toyota exhaust manifolds I can think of)
2 - The Lotus managed to get another 10 or 15 horsepower out of the 2zzges they put in their Lotus Elise. Also they make a comment about smoothing out the power difference between the low and high cam. Do some homework as to how they did this. Maybe copy some of the changes. Could be that the Elise can do without some low/mid range torque due to its very low weight (650kg?). Do a search on this
3 - Find out what Lyn Rogers did to the 2zzge motors that are in the NZ Toyota racing series cars. They also quote about 10 to 15 horsepower more than standard. Phone him up... they worst he can do is say "sorry Im not going to tell you".
4 - If you want to be able to drive faster (on a track of course!!!) spent $600 on some race driving lessons and some track time to practice.

Hope this helps.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Am doing so in a few weeks... however I suspect that some track work on me may help with a bit of weight reduction prior to any racing

It just shows if you buy an import you have no idea what has been done to it... TRD 4-1 headers sitting on it.

Toyota may have done a good job on it, but I'd imagine that the TRD ones will be better...
