new purchase

Postby JD » Sun Dec 11, 2005 9:41 am

Hey all, well i have almost finished taking ownership of my first toyota :)

Picked up this fxgt :
http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/auct ... &key=17948

for a bit less than the starting bid. Seems to be in good nick new clutch recently aswell. Drives sweet as. Getting it inspected this arvo.

I was specifically in the market for a cheap run around so i understand its done close to 200k's and is a bit shabby round the edges but its all good.

Can anyone give me some info or point me to a site where i can find that info ( google doesnt seem to want to help :( ) with regards to model number, engine specs - although as the auction states it has had an engine transplant from a 92 fxgt. Just basically want to start getting my head round the ins and outs of it.

Any help is most appreciate.

Il throw up some pics when ive cleaned it up a bit.

Cheers

hey

I picked up an ae92 for a daily beater while my supra is off the road.
I will prbably hang on to it once the supra is going again too, becuase it is a ideal car for cutting through aucklands traffic.
it uses bugger all gas, and has proven to be very reliable.

the only problems i have with mine are noisy c.v joints and a leaky motor.

I have a silvertop 20v motor which is going in over the xmas holidays, so that will fix that.

the interior is nice for its age, and itss quite a comfortable car to ride in.

i dont know about many sites for the fxgt but maybe keep trying google.

word searches like ae92 fxgt or corolla
etc

you should be able to find something.

If you are planning on installing a decent stereo, i cant suggest enough, that you get custom pods in the front doors for 6.5" speakers

you are wlecome to come have a look at my set up sometime if you like.

there are a few auckland based members with fxgts now, so any specific questions, just ask...

Grab numbers off the engine when you pick it up.

Good cars, I like by GT sedan. The only thing other than the usual maintenance stuff would be to be aware that 4AGE's will often use oil (all three of mine have), and that the AE92's are still in the rust era, so keep an eye on that.
