Why did the 4afe sieze solid?

Postby KinLoud » Thu Dec 08, 2005 10:02 pm

When i got my marino it had a siezed 4afe. The guy said "ahh, I don't know why the engine siezed... I put a whole litre of oil in it the day before!"

There is no sign at all of any oil on the dipstick and the crank is siezed solid! I finally had a chance to look at it to see where all the oil went.

The damn oil filter wasn't tight! I touched it and it moved!
I guess the lesson is to stop driving your car as soon as the oil pressure light comes on!!!
But it did mean that I got a cheap car to put my silvertop into.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

haha
when my dad was living in samoa, he had a brand new suzuki jimny, he took it to the "dealer" to have a service and on the way home the oil light came on. They'd only done the sump plug up finger tight and it fell out when he was driving it. They were lucky the engine didn't crap out 8O

Pulled it all apart. Number 1 and 4 rod bigend bearings almost welded to the crank. I figure that it didn't throw a rod because all the bearings got rooted at the same time and the engine ground to a halt before something broke.
