ST165 TVIS-less, funny idle...

Postby sergei » Sun Dec 18, 2005 10:36 pm

I have started my ST165 today (finally after a year)... it started ok, had to hunt a few air leaks (injector O-ring), but the idle concerns me, it is sound like a subaru from exhaust (car does not shake), no smoke form under oil cap, no miss under load and higher rpms (anything above 2000rps sounds fine) no smoke from exhaust.
Here what has been done to the engine:
TVIS removed/ported/holes filled (due to failed membrane in the TVIS acutator)
A/C removed (A/C idle up blocked/removed)
Catalityc converter emptied
Fuel Pressure regulator switch solenoid removed
sequential blow off valve (I've checked - does not leak)
ST205 W/A intercooler
New Leads/Plugs/Rotor Cap
....

My question is:
Does pulsation occures due to big ports slowing down air so the fuel is not mix efficiently on low rpm? or I'm missing something else?
