Yeh of course you could but it wouldnt take full advantage of the cam+flows. It would still run fine with some mixture adjustments. You could either jet the standard carb bigger or replace it with a webber etc.

I dont think a carby place would jet an aisan because they are'nt are popular performance carb, so they wont stock jets for them. But its worth a try, just look in your yellow pages and have a ring round.

Just have a go at doing it yourself, theres only one way of learning

Just find an aisan from a 1500-1600cc (depending on how extreme you want to go) and swap the guts of it into your 4k carb. Jets, venturis etc. If you want more info do a search on the net. Most old mitsi's, toyota's had aisans.

Do you have a workshop manual thing with an exploded view of the carb? Because I wouldnt start without one. If you dont I could scan a few pages from mine.

:D :D

Yes webber's are ALOT better carbs but you will also have to jet that. There are many webber specialists around so bits are'nt hard to find. But if you're lucky you could find one already tuned for a 4k or escort 1300.

Just save up for a webber. When I first got my 35 (4k) I put extractors and a stupidly lumpy cam in it. I run it with the standard carb for about 2 months daily driven. Run fine. All I did was had a fiddle round with the mixture screws. The manual will explain all that. But when I put a 32/36 webber on it it had like a trillion times more power :)

save for a Weber?? they're like $15-20 on trade me for a 32/36, but i suppose by the time you buy/make adapter plate and get a filter, the set-up will owe you $100. cheap gain

Were have you been looking??? 8O Maybe for one that needs a full rebuild at a push for $15-20.

I paid $150 for mine with a ramflo, and it was ready to run. I thought that was cheap. Then theres an adaptor which is about $100

the cheap ones possibly need a rebuild, but unless it has been freshly done, the Weber should be inspected/checked anyway.. i got my 40/40's for $25 and $30+p and p. i should have sold you my one if you think they are worth so much and scrapped the manifold.
$100 for the adapter???was it gold plated, they're only $40-50 for the new alloy ones

I've got a 40DHLA Dellorto I could be convinced to get rid of for a very low price ;) Much better carb than a down draft Weber

1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time

it is only of use to you, if you have a matching carb and the manifold. the single DHLA/DCOE mainfolds arn't common, so you'd need a new one, plus jets, chokes etc installed estimate with filters $450 + cost of carb.

besides, i think it is I who has first dibs
