im trying to use the blue top 4age computer to control the timing for use with aftermarket fuel controller. what are the vital connections/sensors that the computer needs to generate spark/timing.

To get the correct timming curve you will need to hook up all the wiring except the injectors. Everything else has a bit of control over the advance curve, MAP sensor, Temp sensor, dist signals, air temp, just about everything.
And if your advance curve isn't right you wont get all your power.

I will Email you a pinout diagram if you like. There are a lot f unnecessary wires in there. What model 4AGE is it?

type 61 is carina ecu.

if you're going to do this ... here's what I'd do.

Megasquirt Loom:
Water temp, air temp, injectors, map, -ve off coil.

4AGE loom.
1k resistor for water temp, 1k resistor for air temp (to ground), map, dizzy and coil and ignitor as per normal.

That's all there is too it.
You don't need the 4age ecu to change map according to inlet temp or water temp. It'll still drive mint.

with the support that ms has id go there anyday. and it cost me less than 450$ to get the whole thing going i reakon. just proves that my soldering IS good and u dont need a professionally built board MATT (lazy shit). i redid my entrire loom for the whole car, took me a while but worth it. and was good to have KArl there to get the car going initially. (started first time).

How did you guys go with ordering it? $7 seems a bit cheap for freight from america. should I just send a bank cheque in american dollars for the amount quoted on the order page?

you can actually get stock ecu going for spark with nothing connected bar the distributor, ignitor, power & ground.
put in diag mode and away you go.

use the ignitors black wire or coil negative for tacho for MS or another ecu.

as for maps. ours have always been turbo or ITB's.
no point doing another ecu on standard 16v.

Does disconnecting the map sensor make much difference? ie having the ecu control the timing solely based on the rpm?
