Should i go box?

Postby The_Sorrow » Tue Dec 20, 2005 9:28 pm

Ok, lets try this again

I am in the middle of making this for my 92 Levin Gt-apex

http://www.4age.net/tech/coldair.htm

My question is should I

a) Continue to do this. Its a good idea, done properly

or

b) Forget it, pipe from the factory airbox to the front bumper and get a better panel filter

Which one would give the best result?

And yes, I have used the almighty search button

chur-chur

Has anyone done something similiar?
Or have something better to recommend?

until I see a dyno plot of a pod making a difference, I say just pipe cold air to your existing box.

And yes I realise my car has a pod, it had it when I bought it, so I added a CAB to atleast grab colder air.

Great, now that we know you've already tried searching ... ditto to Mr Rev's reply

FWIW, you might also want to investigate trumpets for your intake ... its an option for a 20 valve motor that can produce good results if done correctly (read: with very good cold air supply).

dyno is the only way to tell

a pod on one car may lose power, but gain on another.....

First person to say it ... what? You'll growl at them over the internet?

At least make an effort, or mention that you've made the effort, before expecting everyone else to do your research for you

Yes, dozens and dozens of the members of this forum have done this before, and surprise surprise, they've posted about it. That automagical search button at the top of the screen will show you their posts. Why are you special that you don't have to search like everyone else?

Apologys, I have made full use of the almighty search function and have scrolled through every topic you have just listed and more. The problem is that none answer the question I have asked which is, of these two options, is one better than the other. Should have added that.

And no, I don't expect people to do research for me. That is what I am doing now by asking experts.

But thanx, Mr Revhead and barryogen, that was the answer I was looking for

Well, thanks for that dude

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't trumpets really designed for a MAP sensored engine, and wouldn't work with an AFM, which mine is?

Yea, I think I might as well just move the battery to the boot and make a proper CAB instead of pissing round with this half-assed sh*t I was thinking of doing.

Unless someone has a better idea that they could be bothered explaining to me. I could search but I'm real stoooopid when it comes to these sorts of things

Thanx anyway dude
